Fourier Audio specialises in innovative audio solutions that bridge the gap between the studio and the live stage. With products like the transform.engine, Fourier enables sound engineers to run VST3 plugins in real time, offering the same control and flexibility found in a studio – but in a live performance environment.
Fourier wanted to communicate a simple but powerful message: enabling the use of studio plugins in a live setting. The aim was to show, at a glance, how the transform.engine allows engineers to access studio-grade processing in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of front-of-house mixing.
The Inside Story was tasked with creating a striking advert that would stand out in print and digital formats, staying true to Fourier’s established visual identity while highlighting the product’s transformative capabilities.
Graphic designer Maia Fleming set out to make the ad “very on brand and in line with Fourier’s visual identity,” using the company’s wire motif and signature lime yellow as her starting point.
The creative concept focused on transforming the front-of-house console into a studio-style setup; both in appearance and in the promise of what transform.engine can do. Maia chose a live concert image taken from the engineer’s perspective, placing the viewer at the heart of the action and showing the connection between stage and sound desk.
Over this, she layered fluid, glowing illustrations of studio monitors, mixing gear, and sound waveforms. “I wanted something in the style of a photo annotated with line art,” she explains, “almost as if it was a magic marker scribbling over the image and bringing elements in it to life.”
This approach visually echoed the product’s unique selling point: the transform.engine provides the creative flexibility of a studio in the middle of a live gig. “It was important to incorporate a real studio setting to demonstrate that,” says Maia. The glowing lines were designed to “reflect how vibrantly versatile the transform.engine is,” giving the ad a sense of energy, immediacy and a touch of magic.
The final design captured Fourier’s message with clarity and impact. The glowing line art, paired with a realistic live image, stood out in both print and digital contexts, ensuring the advert caught the attention of its target audience.
By combining brand-led design elements with a creative concept rooted in the product’s core benefits, The Inside Story delivered a campaign asset that not only reflected Fourier’s identity but also invited sound engineers to act immediately – to get it now and transform their live broadcast straight away.
